Granted, he's be largely quiet about the changes and hasn't really cared too much, one way or the other, but it's now that things have come to a head.

He has no intention of starting up trouble, however. Instead, he takes to the hallways, prowling about to make sure certain areas are secure. He already knows about Zero and how easy it is to get zapped there so even though there's a sword strapped to his back, he doesn't plan on using it except in self-defense. ]

[ S'up, Barge. Adding to the long list of people affected by the flood, Slade is sitting at his desk, a journal open in front of him. There's no small amount of irony in his expression. ]

There are days I wish I hadn't come back. [ A beat. ] Actually, it's most days.

I know this place works, but I don't especially want it to work for me. My three previous Wardens and an idiot in green had a hell of a time with me since I didn't want to graduate.

I still don't, actually.

I honestly don't see the point. When you've died more than half a dozen times and still can't seem to succeed at anything that actually matters, you'd think it'd be a sign.

I nuked a city. I turned my daughter into a weapon so she wouldn't die like everyone else. I made nice with the sycophantic 'villains' of my world because they didn't disgust me as much as the 'heroes'.

I'm not proud of it, but at least I can say I had reasons.

[ He reaches for a bottle of whiskey. ]

Right now, he's perched himself in the gym and is wearing loose, work-out clothing. Guess what he's gonna ask. ]

How many of you know how to spar?

[ There's nothing to announce his arrival save for a bit of a commotion on Level 8. His room is in shambles, his hands are raw, but he finds he doesn't actually care.
